Interview with Victor Ramos

Víctor Ramos, a 20-year-old from El Prat de Llobregat, is an aspiring model with a passion for fitness, fashion, and English. Currently pursuing a degree in sports studies, he has earned multiple Cambridge English certificates and is preparing for the C1 exam. In this interview, Víctor shares his journey into modeling, the challenges he’s faced, and his goals for the future. He also discusses the importance of English in the fashion industry and offers advice for aspiring models.

  • What made you decide to start modeling, and how did you take your first steps in this career?

It all started with what felt like a family “curse.” Both my grand-aunt and my mother dreamed of becoming models, but their parents never allowed them to pursue it. Growing up, I always heard their stories and felt their unfulfilled passion for the industry. So when I had the opportunity, I saw it as my chance to break that cycle and finally make it happen for our family. But beyond that, modeling wasn’t just about them—I’ve always had a deep appreciation for fashion, creativity, and self-expression, so stepping into this world felt natural to me.

  • How did you feel when you did your first photoshoot or runway show? Was it what you expected?

Being new to this world, I had to adapt to the fast-paced environment. At first, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves, unsure of what to expect. But about two hours into my first event, I started to truly enjoy it. I remember looking at myself in the mirror, wearing a nice suit, and feeling like I belonged. That was the moment when the nerves faded, and I embraced the experience with confidence.

  • What are your goals as a model? Where do you see yourself in the future?

As my mom and my modeling coach always say, I’ll be out there getting paid for photoshoots and advertisements. But beyond that, I’m also starting to explore the world of movies and short films. In the future, I hope to establish myself as both a well-known model and actor, building a career that blends fashion and entertainment.

  • Have you faced any challenges so far? What has been the most difficult part of starting in this industry?

The hardest part has been traveling for photoshoots far from my hometown, which takes some time getting used to. One of my biggest challenges was a kind of healthy rivalry with another model, we were both pushing to be the best. It was intense, but in the end, I came out on top, and it motivated me to keep improving.

  • In what ways do you think English is essential for professionals in international industries like fashion?

I think the most important advantage of knowing English in this industry is being able to communicate on a global level. It allows professionals like me to make sure our messages are understood everywhere, not just in Spain, opening doors to international opportunities and connections.

  • What advice would you give to young aspiring models about the importance of language skills in their careers?

I recommend that they at least learn English since it’s the international language, making it easier to communicate with people from different countries. This can open doors to bigger opportunities, both financially and professionally, and help them gain valuable experience in the long run.

Thank you, Víctor, for sharing your inspiring journey with us. Your determination, passion for modeling, and dedication to learning English truly stand out. We wish you great success in both the fashion and entertainment industries, and we have no doubt that your hard work will take you far. Best of luck with your upcoming projects and your C1 English exam!
