Academic support (tutoring) is an educational practice that aims to support students and improve their academic performance. It consists of giving extra help to students who are struggling with certain subjects, as well as teaching them the study techniques they need at their current stage. Professional, well-monitored tutoring brings immediate results and improves the student’s attitude towards studying, as well as their self-esteem and motivation.
At NOVACADÈMIA, academic support is one of our specialities and our calling as a company. It is an area we work on every day with children, teenagers and adults who need support to get through certain subjects, progress in their studies and achieve their goals and challenges.
We accompany students throughout the school year, monitoring their progress day by day and reporting it every term in a personalised report that details their progress across 10 different indicators.
Our idea of academic support is linked to the academic success and personal development of our students. We understand that each of them is unique and has their own learning needs. That is why we offer our Academic Support service on a personalised basis and only one-to-one, with a specialised teacher dedicated to a single student. We now also offer packs for secondary school and Batxillerat students which, in addition to the one-to-one tutoring hours, include 3 extra hours of educational psychology support.
All our teachers are experts in different fields, which allows us to assign the profile best suited to each student’s needs. An individual study plan will be created for each student, adapted to their own pace of work and study.
Our vision of academic support combines help with day-to-day homework and study techniques. Study techniques are what give students the strategies to improve progressively and become independent learners later on; without them, tutoring only solves the present and does not invest in the future. The aim, therefore, is to build study habits and awaken a positive attitude in students towards their studies and what they represent.
We also stay in regular contact with our students’ schools, which allows us to follow each student’s progress with their form tutor or the head of studies, identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate school–family–Novacadèmia actions for the student’s benefit.
