The CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH Young Learners program is designed by the world’s leading experts in language teaching for the primary education stage, that is, for children between 6 and 11 years old.
In January 2018, CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH updated the range of examinations for children in accordance with the most recent research on language learning and teaching. This range of exams is specifically designed for the youngest learners, constituting a highly effective and supportive tool at the beginning of their journey in learning English.
Each stage has its own objectives, and the levels are interconnected so that the child progresses in level and competencies in a continuous and efficient manner.
At the end of each level, performance in English language skills is assessed, and it is recommended that the student take the official exam to obtain a CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH certification. This is highly motivating for children and is an experience they usually do not forget.
Students learn English academically using only official materials, and the teachers complement the content with other stage-specific materials provided by CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH, which we incorporate into their learning.
Throughout each academic year, NOVACADÈMIA trains over 200 primary school students in various schools in Barcelona and the Vallès region.

NOVACADÈMIA gives you an official placement test and a personal interview before the start of the course, which allows us to group students by level rather than by age in the case of children and young people. At the end of the course, a comprehensive final level test is conducted, allowing us to analyze and verify your progress and performance level within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The Primary Education (Young Learners) courses consist of between 1.5 to 3 hours per week, depending on the level and the centre. Check the schedules we offer in Barcelona at three different locations and at our training centre in Caldes de Montbui.

NOVACADÈMIA presents primary school students for the official CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH YOUNG LEARNERS exams. The Cambridge English Young Learners (YLE) exams are a series of motivating and fun tests aimed at children in primary education.
Thousands of parents worldwide choose the YLE exams to guide their children’s learning while also being able to check their progress in English according to internationally recognized standards.
At NOVACADÈMIA, we offer all three exams within this program: Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers, and A2 Flyers.
Before students take these exams, a mock exam is conducted in March/April in the same class to see if they are ready. The official exams take place in May, June, or July.
For children who have been studying English for a few years, the Young Learners exams are a great opportunity to:
- Motivate their learning by setting goals and showing their progress.
- Build self-confidence when facing an exam.
- Develop their spoken and written English.
