It’s no secret that studying is not easy. That’s why it is vital to learn how to do it well. An excellent way to tackle foundational problems is to learn to study using various study techniques.

Experts acknowledge that to achieve success at school, it is necessary to use the appropriate study techniques regularly. These techniques impact performance, and without them, it can be difficult to avoid failure at some point in our academic journey. Other factors—such as study conditions, the methods used, our skills, and even our motivation and attitude—also influence academic results.

At NOVACADÈMIA, we have been teaching different study techniques to our academic reinforcement students for over 12 years. These techniques are adapted to each stage and age, yet are highly effective both in motivating students and enhancing their disposition toward studying, as well as in achieving higher results in the short to medium term.

The main techniques include reading, which is our first encounter with the material. Once understood and read several times, we move on to highlighting. Then comes summarizing: this technique ensures comprehension of the material and helps us respond more confidently during exams. Another important technique is visual study, which involves creating graphic representations of the material. This allows for a quicker and clearer overview of what has been read. And, of course, we do not neglect the practical aspect, since in some subjects, practice is essential.

We believe that organizing your studies is essential, planning and managing the time dedicated to this task. This brings significant benefits, both personally and academically. Knowing different study methods and selecting the ones that best suit our needs is key. This way, we personalize our learning approach and adjust it based on our own practices and abilities.

Additionally, study techniques are complemented by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as they are important tools that must be used effectively to enhance our studies. They can also enrich our knowledge and help us gather information more efficiently.
